No shortage of things to do while you’re visiting River House Inn! How about canoeing?

Despite its name, the New River is considered by some geologists to be possibly one of the oldest rivers in the world, between 10 million and 360 million years old. It is considered to be second in age only to the Nile River and thus the oldest in North America. It was dedicated as a National Scenic River in 1976. On July 30, 1998, President Clinton came to northwestern North Carolina in July to designate the New River an American Heritage River.

River House has a few canoes, kayaks and tubes of its own, and we’d be delighted to drive you upstream and let you float back to the Inn (ask us about rates for that). Take a two hour paddle or float down the river.

Aaron Price is a musician, producer, and composer currently residing in Asheville, North Carolina.

aaron price river house innA lifelong musician who began playing piano at the age of 2, Aaron is known as a multi-faceted artist, equally at home on stage, in the theater pit, or in the studio.

In 2005 alone, he led the band for a theater production of the musical HAIR, produced several records, and released a solo piano recording under his own name.

Aaron arrived in Asheville in 1997. Within a year he formed the cabaret act Vendetta & The Nines with native chanteuse Kelly Barrow and bassist Mike Holstein.

The same year he opened Collapseable Studios, setting up and cutting records in his apartment, working with engineer and bass player Bill Reynolds. Price and Reynolds engineered and produced Vendetta & The Nines and Valorie Miller’s Analog in 1999.

Both albums received steady air play on WNCW radio, known for its support of regional music. The same year Vendetta & The Nines toured the UK, and Asheville’s Mountain Xpress called Aaron Price “The man behind the Asheville sound.”

373240As a touring performer, singer-songwriter and pianist Dave Turner has crossed North America on wheels numerous times from North Carolina to San Francisco and back, from New York City to Georgia, from the Steinbeck Center in Salinas, CA, to The Grey Eagle in Asheville, North Carolina, and many points in between over thousands of miles.

His songs and stories are inspired by subjects such as empty pockets and starry skies, bourbon, late-night diners, old lovers, Blue Ridge mountains, California dreams, desperation, roadside shrines, the solitude of the road, New York City subway rides, hangovers, unsent letters, adolescent kisses, tattoos, beer joints, bar buddies, staying put and getting away—just to name a few. Have a listen by attending one of Dave’s live shows or purchasing one of his recordings. – See more at: http://www.daveturnermusic.com/home.cfm#sthash.fN3wx2rO.dpuf
