Singer and songwriter Keith Burkhart has been performing since childhood. He first reached the piano keys at three, beginning lessons at six. At ten he began playing drums winning several talent shows. In school he played trombone and marched snare drum, but at 13 he found a much greater passion with a six string electric and acoustic guitar.

Shortly after high school Keith found his voice and his confidence grew. While attaining formal music instruction at Davidson County Community College, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and East Carolina University, he learned to write and record music. With folk, rock, rhythm and soul as background Keith has composed over 100 songs. Through his career Keith has opened and performed with such big names as Marshall Tucker, David Allen Coe, Fifth Seasons, Ricky Scaggs, and Three Dog Night.

Keith Burkhart resides in Lexington, North Carolina with wife, Jennifer and son, Gabriel. God and family are Keith’s greatest victory and that has proven to be the essence of great music. Keith and Jennifer have an enormous passion and calling for children, and have plans for further education.

While we were never invited to those heady Parisian parties of the twenties and thirties – to hobnob with Hemingway and Gertrude Stein – the idea of such literary and artistic gatherings sounded appealing. Drop by at 4:00 for food and wine, music and conversation, perhaps a poetry reading or a short play, a book-signing, an exhibit of art or pottery, or an occasional film. Dinner, usually a four-course set menu, follows about 6:00.

More info on the critically acclaimed CD produced at River House Inn in Ashe County, NC!

Much, much more than a Bed and Breakfast, River House is a full-service inn on the North Fork of the New River, near West Jefferson and not far from Boone in the northwest corner of North Carolina.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are far from the bustle of everyday life. Gayle Winston, owner of River House, had a brilliant idea…to showcase local musicians and artists in the area.

This video is the first of a two-part series describing how it came to fruition.
