Third annual Woof Walk at the River House Inn is Saturday, September 29. Registration will be from 9:30-10:15 AM with the one mile walk along the New River beginning at 10:30.

This Sunday, September 23rd, enjoy the sounds of The Marie Vanderbeck Trio!

Ken Broun – Piano Mike Chrzanowski – Bass Marie Vanderbeck – Vocals Hear jazz sweet and sassy – as it is meant to be heard. You’ll find yourself singing along and tapping your feet to familiar songs like “Night and Day,” “Makin’ Whoopie,” “God Bless the Child,” and others. The rich bass sounds from the upright bass are not just background. They actually reflect the tones and the heart of the music. Mike is a master at getting just the right bass notes and runs to accompany the piano and the vocals. On jazz piano, Ken playfully notes the keyboard with some improv and some basic jazz melodies. He lets the feeling of the song drive him. Ken plays each tune as it feels to him at that moment – each time has a different feeling. It’s clear that Ken and Mike compliment each others’ musicians’ style. And this background fits Marie’s vocals so well. They are like a well practiced team – at times playing it straight – at other times each one playing off the other’s improv. Marie’s phrasing and tuning brings out the best of each song.  Her rich voice takes you high and takes you low. That’s what makes this group sweet and sassy.
